28 January 2016 – Strategizing and planning for the upcoming year
We welcomed back our enthusiastic Sizabantwana teachers this past Thursday when we held our first meeting for 2016 at our new meeting venue. The Tatham Art Gallery, which is situated in the centre of Pietermaritzburg, graciously offered us the use of their lecture theatre for our meetings.
Project manager, Carol Mitchell, hosted this first meeting with her usual energy and enthusiasm, setting a very positive tone for what this year holds. She went over some of the initiatives that we are involved with, including ‘Litres for Education’ where members of the public are able to sign up and receive a disc that is displayed on your windscreen. When you put petrol in at participating service stations Sizabantwana will receive a donation. For more information you can contact us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org or go to www.litresforeducation.co.za
Carol went on to encourage all our members to suggest the areas and topics that they would like to be covered which brought on a fruitful conversation between everyone. This included what the members enjoyed last year, what they would like to expand on, and new areas that need to be covered.
It is very inspiring to know how dedicated and enthusiastic tis group of teachers are and how much they are striving to upskill themselves to make a positive impact on their students. We are looking forward to 2016 and what will be achieved.
We need to extend our gratitude to the Café Tatham who provide delicious treats and refreshments for our members after each meeting. This gives us the opportunity to connect with another in a lovely setting and it is something we really look forward to at each meeting.
Our second meeting will be held on Thursday 11 February at 13h30.
